Disabled American Veterans (DAV) installation of men & women. Photograph ordered by Mrs. John Mitchell. On July 20, 1955 the DAV and its auxiliary met to install officers at the State Armory. Several veterans organizations shared the same hall at 715 So. 11th, the Washington National Guard Armory. After the installation, new national colors would be presented to the auxiliary by Tacoma Chapt. #1, DAV. The new officers are front row, left to right, Mrs. Neal Goodwin, chaplin; Bessie (Mrs. George) Comontos, senior vice; Mrs. Buster Gallatin, commander; Vivian (Mrs. William) Crossley, junior vice; Mrs. J.T. Mitchell, treasurer. Back row, left to right, JoHannah (Mrs. Fred) Tegard, color bearer; Mrs. Walter Anderson, alternate committee woman; Hazel (Mrs. Charles) Houts, adjutant; Kathleen (Mrs. William) Bakhus; Mrs. Herbert Piper, welfare; Mrs. Homer McLaughlin, state executive committeewoman.
