Marion Roseann Burns, soon to be Mrs. Thomas Harbine Monroe, and her wedding party pose on the altar of the Christ Episcopal Church on her wedding day, November 24, 1940. The bride stands in the center attired in white chiffon velvet. The two candle lighters stand at the ends, Catherine Schumacher and Lou Johnson. The Maid of Honor was Marjorie Naylor and the bridesmaids were Jean Rea, Louise Gerwels, Dorothy Rowland and Dorthea Thies. They are all attired in white chiffon. In lieu of hats, the bridesmaids wear bandeaus of carnations suspending circlets of white net. (T. Times 11/25/1940, pg. 7)

Richard Reynolds carries the crucifix as Rev. Sidney T. James and the Christ Episcopal Church Boys Choir look on. On Sunday March 28, 1937, special Easter music at both the 11:00 a.m. service and the 3:30 p.m. Easter festival service at Christ Episcopal Church, 316 No. K St., was enhanced by the young voices of the Boys Choir. The boys in the choir are (l to r, front to back) William Harkins, David Evans, Hunter Simpson, Douglas Armstrong, Jack Turpin, Raymond Puddicombe, Donald Schroeder, Robert Schroeder, Gordon Baker and Ted Ford. Gordon Baker sang a solo during the afternoon festival service. (T.Times 3/27/37 p. 8)

Betz, Jr. Ushers were Bernard D. Elliott, Robert Martin, Manson Backus II and John C. Bardsley, Jr. The couple was married November 24, 1940 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Tacoma. (T. The bridesmaids hold bouquets of mums and the bride's train is spread out down the steps. The bride's bouquet is made of white spider chrysanthemums and ivy leaves. On June 28, 1941, Clara Joan Peterson and LaVern Kolstad were married at 9p.m. by candlelight at the Christ Episcopal Church. The bridal party is pictured at the Altar. After a merger in 1926 with St. Luke's, the church was named the Christ Episcopal Church. It has been demolished. Bowen #CHU-035
