ca. 1932. Phyllis Velton's Dance Revue of 1932. A young girl in a frilly dress and a hat is on the stage in front of the screen being filmed. She holds out the hem of her dress as a woman standing to the side demonstrates the technique to her. This same young girl with the pixie haircut is featured in a series of Dance studio photographs ordered by Walt Sutter. She is most probably his granddaughter.

ca. 1934. Interior of Walt Sutter home. Ornately set table with Nordic ship decorations, curved china cabinet, bird cage and antique lamp. The table setting and room decorations seem to indicate a special occasion is about to take place. Flag banners of many countries hang over the table, with sailing ships used as table decorations. ca. 1932. "Phyllis Velton's Dance Revue of 1932." A young girl with bobbed, crimped blonde hair dances in a satin robe trimmed with feathers, lingerie and white toe ballet slippers. Chaise lounge, vanity, armchair and three toy animals decorate the stage.

ca. 1932. Phyllis Velton's Dance Revue of 1932. Young girl in halter top and shorts standing under archway with chains on wrists and ankles. The girl is being featured in some sort of gothic interpretive dance. Phyllis Velton was a young Tacoma dancer and teacher. As a dancer, she was know for her "ultra modern" interpretations, demonstrating modern dance trends.

ca. 1932. Phyllis Velton's Dance Revue of 1932. Group of children in various costumes on stage with Gothic church set. Title block superimposed on image. The 1935 City Directory lists Phyllis Velton's dance studio at 220 No. "I" Street. Miss Velton was a young Tacoma dancer and teacher. She presented her first dance revue for students in 1931. A teacher of both classical and modern dance, she was known for her own "ultra-modern" dance interpretations using Egyptian and Assyrian themes.

This photograph from March 1932 shows four unidentified empoyees in one of the Piggly Wiggly grocery stores in Puyallup. This store was under the management of Mr. Pinckney. Going through a wooden turn-style, a shopper could find bargains such as Max-i-mum coffee at 37cents per lb. and apples at 63 cents a box.

ca. 1935. Griffin Fuel Company. Man pulling lever on coal chute to release coal into truck. These are automatic gravity bunkers filled with coal. The company was begun by Fred L. Griffin Sr. in 1889 as a horse drawn delivery company. It was called Griffin Transfer in the early days. By 1904, they moved to Commerce Street and concentrate solely on fuel deliveries. (T. ca. 1935. Griffin Fuel Company. Two men loading wood onto truck in wood storage yard. In the background, Griffin's stock of over 7,000 cords of wood can be seen. The company was celebrating its 46th year in business and the gradual recovery from the Depression. The company began business in 1889 as a horse drawn moving company for any kind of commodities. By 1904, Griffin Fuel had moved to this location and focused in on the fuel business. In 1935, they delivered and sold fuel in the forms of oil, coal, wood and sawdust. (T. Times 12/10/1935, pg. 5)
