Thousands of Shriners converged on Tacoma in June of 1957 for their annual Pacific Northwest Shrine Association convention. Festivities culminated at Lincoln Bowl where the "Shrine-O-Rama" pageant took place. The general public was invited to attend the evening program of marching units, Oriental bands and bands. Eagles. The Eagles had an all-accordion band, the first organized since before World War II. They presented a recital May 25, 1949, at Eagles Temple. The band was part of the Eagles' youth guidance program and was under the direction of Louis Nomellini (standing center, first row). Old Timers nite at Elks Club, Harry Lynch. All members of the Elks with 25 years or more service were honored with dinner at the Elks Club on January 26, 1949. After dinner the Old Timers marched to the lodge room and, after a short business session, they were treated to a two-hour professional vaudeville show and surprises. More than 400 members and their guests were expected. A band sits at the edge of the floor for the performance. A stuffed elk stands by one of the exits and a mounted elk head is over one of the doors at the rear on the room. Murals decorate the walls. (T.Times, 1/24/1949, p.2)

Old Timers nite at Elks Club, Times, Buzz. All members of the Elks with 25 years or more of service were honored at a reunion at the Elks Temple January 26, 1949. The Tacoma Lodge received its charter from the grand lodge in 1890. Thirty-two of the men who were honored at the event have posed in front of the stage. Names are listed in the newspaper. Ted Knightlinger, center, tells a group of young misses about the plans for the annual Elks Father and Daughter party to be held on February 17, 1950 at the Elks Temple, 565 Broadway. Mr. Knightlinger was chairman for the event where members of the Tacoma lodge hosted their daughters to a gala party and show, and presented them with corsages as favors.
