Banquet in Army-Navy Room for Buick Motor Company Distributors, Mueller-Harkins, Rudy Mueller. Buick dealers and salesmen of Southwest Washington previewed the new Buick Special at the Mueller-Harkins Motor Company. The work space on the second floor was doubled and a concrete ramp which provides access to the old and new rooms was constructed. Alma Ayres was the newest, most modern women clothing store in Tacoma. The store was owned by Alma Ayres, a well known and respected Tacoma business woman. This store would carry the most modern and exclusive fashions, including: "Carmel", "Frechtl", "Swansdown" and "Joe Kraeler". Reverend Carl A. Johnson, minister of the First Christian Church of Tacoma, presented six sermons, all open to the public, in August of 1949. They were held in the Tent Cathedral at 1400 South Trafton, which claimed to be "America's largest fireproof gospel tent." The 100-ft. by 200-ft. tent was packed with those interested in hearing Reverend Johnson preach about "Practical Christian Living" from the Book of James. The Reverend's six sermons were: "Living Practically," "Living Enthusiastically," "Living Spiritually," "Living Prayerfully," "Living Victoriously," and "Living Seriously." Photographs from A Street side, also from back side and interior of Garden Room, Tacoma Hotel, Armand Marion. The Savage-Scofield Building, designed by Heath and Twichell architects in 1908, houses the Tacoma Hotel. The hotel's main building at 913 A Street was destroyed by a fire in 1935. The Tacoma Savings and Loan Building stands to the right of the hotel at 100 South 9th Street.

George Dickson passed away in 1935, his wife Minnie died earlier this year, in February 1949. Titus Motor Company was an authorized Ford cars and trucks dealership, in Tacoma for many years. Titus handled many special orders and custom built trucks to accommodate all types of business needs. Ada E. Rolstad has just been appointed the new director of the Gray Lady service department for the Pierce County Chapter of the American National Red Cross. Mrs. Rolstad will be in charge of all of the Gray Lady's activities. Mrs. Rolstad has been a Gray Lady at Madigan General Hospital for more than five years, and was the corps chairman during most of World War II (T.N.T., 10/30/49, p. D-9).

The Roy T. Earley Company was transporting the usable building materials from the Fidelity Building to a warehouse on Puyallup Avenue in September of 1949. These materials would later be sold, including the elevators. View of one unidentified man, wearing a hardhat, high above the street. He was part of the Roy T. Water Department, Parker Paint Manufacturing Company, Mr. Martin. The City of Tacoma's Department of Public Utilities, Water Division shops building has been painted using Parker Paint that was manufactured in Tacoma. The one-story building, made of reinforced concrete, was completed in 1936. Decorative light fixtures, pilasters extending beyond the roof line and decorative motifs above the windows provide an interesting exterior of this utility building. A tower at the far side of the building contains the same diamond motif as the main building.

Van de Kamp sign, North 1st and G Streets, Electrical Products, Larry Moore. A new neon sign advertised Van de Kamp's Bakery from the roof of their building. The sign featured an image of a wind mill with the tubing that contained the neon formed into the shapes of the wind mill vanes. Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakeries had four locations in Tacoma.
