On November 1, 1910, Joe Wrangge was photographed standing in front of his home in South Tacoma. The wood-framed house had a bay window left of the entrance.

ca. 1908. Bicycle shop and Storage business. The bicycle shop is probably the Amzie D. Browning Bicycle & General Repairing business. The bicycle shop has an advertisment painted on it for the Tacoma Baking Co. Print is somewhat out of focus.

Tacoma's Alert Hose Co. No. 2 volunteer firefighting company, in uniform, were photographed on August 8, 1885 as they prepared to join the funeral parade to be held that day for former President Ulysses S. Grant. President Grant's portrait is framed in black and placed aboard the company hose wagon. He had died on July 23, 1885, and the Territorial Governor of Washington had declared that the day of his funeral would be an official day of mourning. The firehouse was located at So. 13th & A Street, which was later the location of the Tacoma Railroad & Power substation. Alert Hose Co. No. 2 was probably one of four hose companies organized between March and August, 1885. The company's hose apparatus may have been built by the volunteers themselves. Adelbert Uriah Mills, center in black beard holding bouquet, was the captain and would later become the Commissioner of Public Safety. A partial list of firefighters' names appears in a Tacoma Daily Ledger article on March 9, 1913. Billboards on the right advertise Meadosweet Milk and Pioneer Beer. Commencement Bay is seen above the tideflats. Union Station is the domed building on the right hand side of Pacific Avenue. General Electric Supply Corp, exterior of the building. This was a new wholesale district office for General Electric. Tacoma was considered a good central location for their regional distribution. Six salesmen covered southwestern Washington and the Olympic peninsula from this location.

Douglas Fir Plywood Association. Entry into residence built of prefabricated plywood sections. This home became the model prefabricated house and office of Win Wilson.
Fisher's was located on 11th Street and Broadway. It was established 52 years ago by A. H. Stanford. Tacoma's home owned department store has been at this location since 1906. In 1946 the department store was completely remodeled and modernized. View of busy downtown Tacoma's 11th Street, towards bridge and tideflats, Fisher's Department Store on right side.

The front yard is steeply sloped and is covered with a blooming groundcover. An airplane can be seen flying overhead.

Steps leading from the patio to the lawn are nearly hidden by the bountiful rhododendron blooms. The mansion was originally known as "Villa Carman" changed to "Madera" in 1939. It is now the home of television actress, Linda Evans.

Exterior of Tudor house with a steeply pitched roof. The exterior walls of stucco are covered in ivy. The two-storey home is built on a slope. The rock garden of the corner lot covers the sloping yard with well kept flowering shrubs. Brick steps lead to the front door from the sidewalk. This beautiful home located at 3601 North 36th St. was included in a photo collage of Tacoma homes and gardens in the Tacoma Times, 6/21/1947, p.8.

Montgomery Ward Company. This is a brick, three-storied building. A fire engine/ladder truck, an automobile and a delivery truck are on the street. The milk delivery man is seen arranging items in the truck. The store front had been the location of the Porter-Cummings Company. Murphy's Cafe-Tavern is on one side and Sharman Books is on the other. Modern Display Service is advertised on the third floor windows. TPL-2534

Residence and grounds at Wayne W. and Bernice Keyes home in the Lakes District. Mr. and Mrs. Keyes are standing in their front yard with two of their dogs. The mansion was originally built for Charles A. Foster and was called "Sunnybank" until purchased by the Keyes' in 1936. It was then referred to as the Keyes Mansion.
