The front yard is steeply sloped and is covered with a blooming groundcover. An airplane can be seen flying overhead.

Steps leading from the patio to the lawn are nearly hidden by the bountiful rhododendron blooms. The mansion was originally known as "Villa Carman" changed to "Madera" in 1939. It is now the home of television actress, Linda Evans.

The rock garden of the corner lot covers the sloping yard with well kept flowering shrubs. Brick steps lead to the front door from the sidewalk. This beautiful home located at 3601 North 36th St. was included in a photo collage of Tacoma homes and gardens in the Tacoma Times, 6/21/1947, p.8.

Residence and grounds at Wayne W. and Bernice Keyes home in the Lakes District. Mr. and Mrs. Keyes are standing in their front yard with two of their dogs. The mansion was originally built for Charles A. Foster and was called "Sunnybank" until purchased by the Keyes' in 1936. It was then referred to as the Keyes Mansion.

The woodwork is painted white and light draperies and sheer curtains lighten the room. A carpet is seen on the wooden floor. Interior of Frost and Margaret Snyder's home. A view of the entry way. A clock hangs next to the front door. The house was designed by architect, F.A. Sexton and built in 1890. The early inhabitants included Lois D. Campbell, an early mayor of Tacoma, Alec "King of the Klondike" McDonald and Judge W.H. Snell. The house was destroyed in 1956. Frost Snyder had succeeded to president of Clear Fir Lumber Company from his father, John Snyder. He was also president of Vancouver Plywood and Veneer Company and a member of the Board of Directors of Puget Sound National Bank. Frost Snyder was born in 1892 and died in 1971.

An oval mirror and frame are built into the surround together with a shelf for small items over the mantel and turnings at either side. A sofa and easy chairs flank the fireplace. A desk and chair back up to the sofa. A three-armed chandelier is shown along with a sconce on the far wall between the large windows.

Tacoma Laundry, Meyer's home, five laundries and a garage. This home was built in 1938 by William Hiltbrunn. It is French Chateau in style and made of brick. The house was purchased in 1940 by businessman Fred J. Meyer. Exterior view of Fred J. Meyer's home taken in September of 1944.

Exterior of Mr. Ernest Burrows' home, Wheeler-Osgood, Mr. Paul Smith. Exterior of a brick home located at 912 South 7th St. According to the 1947 City Directory, Mr. Burrows was part of the Burrows & Milone firm of general contractors.

Wollander Far-West Homes. Willard A. Wollander was the owner of Wollander Better Buildier Plans and Wollander Far-West Homes. The third exterior wall units of the prefabricated house are being added to the foundation. Four men are moving this section, which already has the door opening in it, to the edge of the foundation and will angle it up into place. Window openings are already in place on the opposite wall.

Wollander Far-West Homes. The exterior wall units are being selected from the prefabricated sections just delivered to the work site. There are at least six construction workers working on this aspect of the construction. Two men wearing hats and topcoats are looking on while one unit is moved down from the stack.

Holroyd Company was owned by James A. Holroyd and Alma M. Miller. Several views of the George Raknes residence as seen on November 14, 1948; George D. Poe, Co., Mr. Melendy. One of the five bedrooms in the home, possibly the guest bedroom. A fireplace is seen on the left with a carved fireplace surround and a large mirror over the mantle. Decorative molding is used at the ceiling and also to create panels on the walls. Sconces provide light along the walls and lamps are set at the bedside on bookshelves and in one of the window ledges. The double bed is covered with a chenille bedspread. The wooden floor is covered with throw rugs.
