Mrs. C.M. Maloney, looking warm and prosperous in her fur coat, posed prior to the launch of the USS Doyle on March 17, 1942 at the Seattle-Tacoma shipyard in Seattle. Mrs. Maloney was serving as sponsor for the vessel. She holds the wrapped bottle of champagne that she will break on the bow to christen the ship and a bouquet of long stemmed roses. The Doyle was commissioned in January of 1943 and served in both World War II and Korea.
