Scope and content
Hard hatted wartime workers lined the ways as the USS Doyle moved down into the water, completing her launch. The Doyle was launched March 17, 1942 at the Seattle-Tacoma shipyard in Seattle. The Gleaves class destroyer was commissioned in January of 1943. In 1945, she was converted to a high speed minesweeper. She served honorably in both World War II and Korea before being decommissioned in 1955.
