Scope and content
On St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1942, the USS Doyle was launched at the Seattle Tacoma shipyard in Seattle. She can be seen on the ways, viewed through the legs of a crane, in this picture. In keeping with the holiday, the crane wore a banner of shamrocks and a "V" for Victory. The Irish theme continued with the ship's sponsor, Mrs. C.M. Maloney.
