Scope and content

In April of 1939, work was underway on the caissons for the Narrows Bridge. The Pacific General Columbia Company construction dock was located at Titlow Beach. This photograph is a general view of the dock, with workers and a policeman or security standing on the dock. The dock angles off to the right where barges and tugs are tied up to it. The tugs and barges were used to ferry equipment and supplies to the job site. (T. Times 4/20/1939, pg. 4)
