Scope and content
The Main Street of the Bremerton Navy Yard, circa October of 1936. Automobiles are parked by the large Machine Shop, Building 431, which is still standing nearly 70 years later. The area where the cars were parked is now DryDock #4. In 1936, the machine and electrical shop was less than two years old. It was considered one of the best equipped shops in the world, containing lathes and drill presses as well as other equipment used in the manufacture of warships.
