Standard Oil Company. A view of Clarkson's Chevron Station at night. An automobile is seen in the service area on a hoist. The station advertises Atlas Batteries, Chevron Supreme Gasoline, and lubrication and washing services. A large Coca-Cola cooler sits outside the garage doors. It was apparently the first Chevron station built in Washington State after WWII. The station eventually closed after the I-5 freeway was completed; it was reopened in 1961 as Gene's Richfield Service. Standard Oil Co. started doing business in Western Washington in 1886. They were shipping oil from Cleveland, Ohio to Tacoma in box and tank railroad cars. They have consistently grown and expanded and have new offices in the Tacoma Tideflats area. View of new Standard Oil service station located at 9212 South Tacoma Way. It was purchased by Gene L. Myers in 1961 and is still owned by him in 2003. The business is now Gene's Towing.

Robert Sconce Advertising, Ray Ridge Motors. In this October 11, 1946, photograph, Ray Ridge, just to the right of the engine, is holding a part while the other men look on and listen to an explanation about the part. Ray Ridge was the newly appointed Lincoln and Mercury dealer for the area. These men are shown in the service department of Ray Ridge Motors at 124 Tacoma Avenue South.

Allen Motor Company, Studebaker dealership. An Open House was held at the new Allen Motor Company Building at 6004 So. Tacoma Way exhibiting the new 1947 Studebaker passenger car and used car premises. The new building was built for $80,000, and was 130 feet by 100 feet. It had a service entrance on South 60th Street as well as an exit onto South Tacoma Way. Allen Motors was an old and established firm in Tacoma. J.K. Gordon was president at this time, James M.H. Munson-Smith Motors was appointed as associated Dodge and Plymouth passenger car dealer and Dodge job-rated truck dealer in South Tacoma. A four-day grand opening was held July 30 - August 3, 1946. Buck & Sons was owned and operated by Parker J. Buck. They were remodeling this building, which would house their business.
