This group of Boy Scouts was planning to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree, scheduled for August 21-31,1935, in Washington, D.C. The names of the boys are, left to right, Charles Anderson, Warren Nordquist, Bob Brotherton, Charles McAfee, Al Pousard, Bob Stetson, Bill Mill, Bob Peterson and William Dane. The jamboree was planned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of scouting. Before boarding the train however, the boys received word that the jamboree had been cancelled due to a threatened epidemic of infantile paralysis (polio) in the nation's capital. Instead the boys travelled to Vancouver, Lake Louise, Winnipeg, Chicago, Niagra Falls, Albany, West Point, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC and the naval academy at Annapolis.
