Bare branches of a 30-foot weeping willow are silhouetted against gray February skies in the winter of 1924. The tree, located at 1115 North Oakes St., is related to a tree growing at the tomb of George Washington in Mount Vernon. The original tree at Washington's burial site is said to be grown from a cutting from a willow found near Napolean's grave at St. Helena. 1115 North Oakes was the home of Mrs. Ada Metsker.
