For the ten days of the post-war Tacoma Jubilee celebration in June and July of 1946, Russell Blair reported to work each day dressed in a turn-of-the-century woman's bathing dress - complete with hat. Mr. Blair wanted to show the all-women crew at the Pacific Fruit Company warehouse where he worked what real jubilee spirit was all about. His co-workers quickly joined in the fun, and for the length of the festival he was called "Sadie". (T. Times, 7/4/46, p. 3).
