In 1962, Mondau's Tug Boat Restaurant was still located at 1205 Pacific Avenue. Owned by Luzon Mondau, the building's facade had been remodeled since 1948. The first floor where the restaurant was located seems unchanged except for the modification in the neon signage when "Pizzeria" has replaced "Tavern." The brick had been removed from the upper level which contained the Valera Hotel & Apartments, also owned by Mondau. The Tug Boat still had good food at very reasonable prices: a rib steak dinner complete with fries, toast and salad for a mere dollar and a ham or sausage breakfast with eggs, toast, potatoes and coffee for 90 cents.
