A fire swept through Tacoma Powdered Metals plant, which completely destroyed an unused frame structure, no one was injured. The destroyed building was valued at $25,000, it was located next to Buffelen Lumber Company. A Tacoma fire boat, six engine companies, city police, light, water and gas crews responded to the alarms (T.N.T., 5/4/49, p. 1).
