Disc Jockey Steve Sorenson was pictured in November of 1951 with a record in one hand and a large microphone with station letters KTBI prominently displayed, in the other. He was wearing his familiar cap. KTBI was a Tacoma radio station located at 2715 Center Street; it was owned by Tacoma Broadcasters, Inc., and had been on the air since 1941. By 1953, the station's call letters had changed to KTAC, according to that year's city directory. DJ Sorenson would later move to Spokane where he operated a radio and tv parts store. He did not quite give up the occupation of disk jockey as he was involved in a continuous on-the-air broadcast marathon lasting 85 hours, 5 minutes and 20 seconds, happening from his store's display window on March 19, 1956. Photograph ordered by KTBI. (spokaneradio.philcobill.com-small article on Mr. Sorenson)
