A new new type of pre-fabricated house is being assembled at North 29th and Proctor Streets. From this elevated view we can see two workmen inside the house. The outside walls are now complete and the interior walls and doorways are nearly in place. A sign in the upper left corner says, "TLF, The Quality Mark of Tacoma Lumber Fabricating Company". Insulation has been added to the open sections of the 32" x 8' panels in both the walls and ceiling of this initial house. The panels are manufactured as whole panels or with windows installed. A new type of pre-fabricated house is being assembled at North 29th and Proctor Streets. The roof has been laid on this side of the building. Workers are preparing to place the facia board at the edge of the roof. Forms are laid by the front door to pour a concrete front stoop. It was anticipated that the panels used in this construction will be stocked by retail lumber dealers. There are no packaged houses. A new type of pre-fabricated house is being assembled at North 29th and Proctor Streets. Another view of the roof sections going up on this house. Each section is attached at the ridge pole and at the top of the walls. A new type of pre-fabricated house is being assembled at North 29th and Proctor Streets. The sign in the front yard reads, "Tacoma Lumber Fabricating Company's Panelized Structural Units, Factory Formed for Rapid Field Assembly, Rational Prefabrication". This front view shows brick steps, flower boxes and chimney. The windows and front door have been installed. A covered walkway joins the house and garage. The structure is 24' x 40' with two bedrooms, a total of 1,000 square feet. (T.Times, 1/24/1946, p.2)

A new type of pre-fabricated house is being assembled at North 29th and Proctor Streets. This view to one side includes the two-car garage that is also built of the prefabricated sections. All the front door has been installed in the completed residence. The sections are manufactured by the Tacoma Lumber Fabricating Company. Tacoma Lumber Fabricating Co. finished their first house using the new pre-fabricated building materials. The pre-fabricated materials were different in that the wall and roof panels were made by gluing 3/8" plywood panels to the side of a light framework 32" x 8'. This first completed house will be used as a model where future homeowners can view the features available to them (Also see images D21313-1 & D21356-4).
