A large neon sign juts out from the Northwest Radio facade; the "TV" portion is much larger than the store name or Motorola brand name. Northwest Radio had three locations in the Tacoma area in the early 1950's; this store was located on Sixth Avenue near the Sixth Avenue Launderette and Clark's Garage. Northwest Radio featured Philco, Motorola and RCA Victor products.

Northwest Radio was owned by Paul E. Ward and had three locations in the city. The sign on their Sixth Avenue store indicated that they had the largest radio and television service in Tacoma. Motorola TV's were featured as well as Philco products. Evening shopping until 9 was provided on Monday and Friday nights; there was convenient one-hour parking directly along side of the store. The Northwest Radio Company at 3007-11 Sixth Avenue was advertised as "Tacoma's largest radio and television service organization." Taken in June of 1952, this night view of the building's exterior focuses on the large Motorola TV and Northwest Radio neon signs, including a highlighted Mount Rainier and two radio towers, and an unusual circular window next to a modified bay window. Storefront windows display Motorola, Philco, and Dumont products with car radios on sale at $29.95. The company sold and serviced televisions and home and auto radios. Northwest Radio's Sixth Avenue store opened in November of 1951. Northwest Radio had two other locations in town.

Northwest Radio had three locations, this newest and largest at 3009 Sixth Ave., their original store at 907 Tacoma Ave. So. and a repair center at 2415 So. 12th St. They advertised as the Northwest's largest television sales and service organization. Northwest Radio, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its second Tacoma store at 3009 Sixth Avenue on November 1, 1951. According to the two full page ads in the Tacoma News Tribune, Northwest Radio was offering specials such as a brand new Philco 17 inch console TV with 3-speed record changer for $412.45 and a 20 inch Motorola TV for $314.95. Orchids were given to the first 500 women to vist the store and special gifts were promised to all children who came with their parents.
