Andrew E. Mulligan, who moved to Tacoma from Canada in 1918, his wife Minnie, daughter Patricia and grandson Gregory Rasmussen of Portland, made Mulligan stew for the News Tribune's St. Patricks Day layout in 1951. Mr. Mulligan and his daughter donned chef's hats to prepare the cabbage, onions, potatoes and carrots for the traditional dish. (TNT 3/11/1951, pg D-1)
