Seated in a wheelchair at Good Samaritan Hospital on March 11, 1969, is Joseph E. Faker, about 34 years old. He was undergoing rehabilitation in Puyallup which apparently involved his right leg. The limb is encased in a brace and it is difficult to tell whether part of it is artificial. He has the leg propped against the edge of his bed. Photograph ordered by Levinson Freidman, Seattle for case vs. United Yugoslav Line. Mr. Faker would eventually accept an out-of-court settlement in February of 1970 from United Yugoslav Line and the Argyll Shipping Co., Ltd., of Great Britain. The Tacoma longshoreman was injured in two separate Port of Tacoma accidents while on the job. The majority of damages paid were from United Yugoslav Line, owners of the SS Trvovlje involved in the second accident. (TNT 2-5-70, p. 9 - article on settlement)
