Buness-Payne Wedding. 300-400 guests were present at the double ring ceremony uniting Evelyn Lorraine Buness and Clinton Dwight Payne on June 18, 1948. The evening nuptials were held at Bethesda Baptist Church and officiated by the Rev. Marion Flint. Louise Buness, the bride's sister, was her maid-of-honor and the groom's brother, Bud, was his best man. The bride wore a floor-length ivory satin gown with beadwork on the front. Her bouquet had a large orchid and stephanotis. Evelyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buness and Clinton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Payne. The couple both attended Lincoln High School. After their wedding trip to California and (New) Mexico, they planned to make their home at 7048 South Fawcett in Tacoma.
