First Communion. The First Communion class at Holy Rosary School posed for a group portrait on the evening of April 8, 1971. Rev. Felix Wirth, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, is pictured at the right. Nearly all the girls wore white and traditional veils. According to one reader, the girls were more concerned about their clothing than the actual ceremony. One little girl wore a white pants suit and another chose the color green for her dress. The majority of the little boys have on suits and ties. Sister Roger's class at Holy Rosary School practiced the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics method on January 14, 1969 to improve their critical reading skills. Following the rules of Evelyn Wood's methods, the students, all dressed in school uniforms, use their fingertips as they read the assigned pages in their textbooks. Miss Shannon, instructor, is shown assisting a student near the blackboard. Some of the students have been identified : second row from the right, third seat back was Jonathan White followed by Karen Faker and Judy Good. Third row from right: Patty Boyle, Dave Kotas, Bridget Bannon, Tim Miller and Debra Buralli. At extreme right were Tom Olson, Mary Gassetti (sp), Janet Jackson, unidentified, unidentified, Robert Rooney, Russel Kitchen. According to a former student, a short movie was made showing the pupils utilizing newly acquired reading skills.
