Virginia Lee Allen and her mother Lou Ella Allen select a china pattern at Gunderson's. TNT 1952 wedding layout. Miss Allen became the wife of Gene Gordon Pickering June 21, 1952 at the Christ Episcopal Church. The bride was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Nelson Allen and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy R. Pickering. The reception was held at the University Union Club. The Pickerings made their first home in Seattle. The bride attended Washington State College and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Co-ed Club. Hazel G. Churchill, the owner of Churchill's Kidy-Vil, 751-53 Saint Helens Ave., stretches across her sales counter to hand her young customer, Patricia Churchill, a piece of candy. Hazel G. Churchill opened her children's clothing store in 1949. She and her mother, Laura Churchill owned and operated the Churchill Shop, 904 Broadway, for over 25 years. The Kidy-Vil store, which was aimed squarely at the mothers and children of the first part of the post-war babyboom, only stayed in business for about five years.

One boy is climbing onto a slide, another rides a rocking horse while a girl and another boy are sitting this one out. A bride-to-be, Miss Marilyn Spike, and her mother, Helen H. (Mrs. F. Clifford) Spike, are admiring a display of an elegant formal table setting at Gunderson's on April 27, 1950. Tables have been set with fine Hawaiian china and glassware at Gunderson's in February of 1950. Display shelves along the wall show more china and glassware. An archway gives a glimpse of another showroom. Arthur N. Gunderson had a jewelry, Spode china, silver, crystal and gifts store in the Bostwick Building with store addresses at both 764 Broadway and 761 Saint Helens Avenue.
