On April 24, 1943, the city of Tacoma held a huge bond rally at the Liberty Center downtown. Anyone purchasing a Series E Bond (18.75 and up) was given a hair-raising ride through the streets of Tacoma in an Army jeep. Ready for their jeep ride, and posing in front of the Kaufer Co., Inc., are auxiliaries Dorothy J. Kerr, Mary Arrianas, Wilma Taylor and Lt. Jean Hunnewell, as well as young Chellis Diane Smith and Clarissa Jane Smith. The girls are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith. Dad is the general manager of the bond sale campaign.
