On May 26, 1950 the students of Fern Hill School performed in the school's annual Spring Festival of Music. The program was written as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Fern Hill community with students portraying plants and animals of the region, local Indian tribes and early settlers. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Fern Hill Branch Library were held on August 22, 1949. The library will be located at South 84th Street and Yakima Avenue and is scheduled to open in early 1950.
