Scope and content
Almost hidden from view by enormous trees was the two-story home of Helen Long. Miss Long resided at 45 Summit Road on Prospect Hill in the city's north end. Her beautifully landscaped yard overlooked Commencement Bay. The home was built for George S. Long, Weyerhaeuser's first general manager, in 1906 using designs by architect G.W. Bullard. It was nominated in 1920 as one of the most beautiful homes in the city. Apparently the home was used as an observation post during World War II. Photograph ordered by Helen Long.
