Children at play outside portable school buildings in May of 1969. While some stand and chat and others run, most children are waiting patiently for their turn at jump rope on this sunny day in May. Their classrooms are directly behind them. Made of wood, the one-story structures are equipped with small covered porches, steps and are wheelchair accessible. The school itself is not identified; the Richards Studio was asked to take photographs of several schools in Kent, Yelm and Castle Rock on the same day.
