Scope and content
Three unidentified sales clerks at Weisfield & Goldberg at 923-25 Broadway in Tacoma were photographed in May of 1946 while standing in the store's Eversharp pen display area. Weisfield & Goldberg was not only known for having the "Northwest's largest selection of diamonds" and high quality jewelery, they also carried many other gift items. With the end of the school year rapidly approaching, they were advertising graduation gift ideas such as: manicure sets, Benrus watches and pens. The Eversharp CA Ballpoint Pen was introduced in 1945 and was based on a pen design by two Hungarians, Ladislo and George Biro. Unfortunately the pens did not work very well, and since they were sold with a lifetime guarantee, they caused huge losses for the company which exited the pen business in 1957.
