Scope and content
Florence (Mrs. W.E.) Patrick, a member of the Puppeteers of America, first became interested in puppets when puppeteer Maurice Brown visited her drama class at Montana State. In January of 1949, Mrs. Patrick prepared to present a talk entitled "How Puppets Have Influenced History" to the Theodora Smith Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is pictured above with her hand puppets and Chinese Shadow puppets. After graduating from college, she went on to develop her own puppets and used them in educational work with the Montana Public Schools. Her puppets were influenced by the cultures of Egypt, India, Persia, China and Japan. (T. Times, 1/9/49, p. 25).
