Scope and content
This photograph taken on January 27, 1949 shows Jerry Meyers (3rd from the left) carefully performing his duties as a school patrol officer for McKinley School. The other students are (l to r) Bobby Booth, Donna Fay Lechner, Patricia May Johnston, Billy McDougal, Carroll Barret, and Randy Norton. The Tacoma schools patrol service received national recognition in 1949 for completing 20 years of service, through all kinds of weather, with not one fatality at any school. During the 20 years, nearly 10,000 youngsters had served as patrol officers in Tacoma. (T.Times, 2/6/1949, p.28) TPL-8196
