  • This spectacular lake, sixty miles long, occupies a U shaped valley which extends northwest to southeast through Chelan County. One of Washington's scenic wonderlands, this glacier formed body of water has a maximum depth of 1,419 feet which is 340 ft. below sea level. Chelan is the modification of an Indian word meaning "deep water."The community of Chelan is at the south end of Lake Chelan west of the Columbia River in east central Chelan County. Chelan was incorporated May 7, 1902. circa 1910.

"Sunbeam Bread was an achievement of many years experimentation to produce a truly superior loaf of bread," according to Arthur K. Jordan, owner of the bakery. The new wrapper design was executed in a light blue and white with a floral border and a picture of the girl eating a slice of bread and butter. circa 1933.

The name Wenatchee is from the Indian word, which was We-na-tcha or We-na-tchi, meaning "river issuing from a canyon." In 1805, Lewis and Clark used the word Wahnahchee in referring to this location. The name has been adopted for other geographical features on the east side of the Cascade Mountains in north central Washington State. Wenatchee is a city on the Columbia River at the mouth of the Wenatchee River in southeast Chelan County. It is a fruit growing center, and was incorporated January 7, 1893. circa 1962.
