College of Puget Sound had an increase of enrollment for many years after the end of World War II. In order to better accommodate their students, CPS purchased U.S. Army surplus buildings, which they renovated and christened as "South Hall". Todd Hall, College of Puget Sound's men's dormitory, was named after Dr. Edward H. Todd, in honor of his many years of service to the school. College of Puget Sound had many new additions in mind for the future, hoping to make CPS one of the nicest and most modern liberal arts colleges in the Northwest. Tacoma Symphony Orchestra was formed under the direction of Raymond Vaught at the College of Puget Sound. The orchestra was getting ready for their first concert of the 1947 season, which would be held at Jones Hall. The concert would include Fresca-Baldi, Schubert, Strauss and Ostransky pieces. CPS. Students at the College of Puget Sound are determined to win the many valuable awards in the Tacoma T-Man contest. One young man is wearing a gas mask. Two hold rifles and the last one holds a revolver in his hand and a pipe in his teeth. They have scoured the campus in hopes of locating the elusive subject. The 7th jingle clue was, "For he is sound as sound can be, A saint in two he is, not three. All will vouch and praise his name, and then go on to win the game". "T-Men", an Edward Small production released by Eagle Lion Films, was opening at the Rialto Theater. The film starred Dennis O'Keefe and was based on a compilation of three actual cases of US Treasury Department agents going under cover to track down a counterfeiting ring. R. Franklin Thompson, President of College of Puget Sound, is wearing a baseball mitt and standing on the C.P.S. baseball field. Thompson had a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.), he had been the President at C.P.S. for many years. President Thompson liked to get involved in many of the College activities (Tamanawas, 1947).

Tacoma Chamber of Commerce, new men's dorm under construction. The brick work on the College of Puget Sound was started June 2, 1947, by the MacDonald Building Company June 2, 1947. College of Puget Sound was first established by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1888 as the Puget Sound University, the school is no longer affiliated with the Methodist Church. Student enrollment had increased and the school was also participating in the post war boom and development. New buildings were built and student activities and celebrations were at an all time high. Harvel was formerly with the Tacoma Tigers. One young man is reviewing materials from a notebook. College of Puget Sound students were helping place nine brass plaques bearing the name of one of the fraternities and sororities, which have been active for the past twenty five years. The plaques are being placed by the Student Union Building. The students and college administrators participated in a special dedication just prior to the cement being poured. College of Puget Sound 1951 graduating class. 285 graduates received degrees June 3, 1951, during the ceremony in the field house. Dr. R. Franklin Thompson, president of the college conferred the degrees. Dr. Robert E. Burns spoke to the granduates on "World Unity, But How?". In February of 1952, representatives from the Tacoma Master Builders posed outside the model home, the "Tacoman," that was built by Jardeen Brothers for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. It was built on a lot adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse. The Master Builders were sponsors of the home show and suppliers of materials for the model home. The "Tacoman" was to be complete in every detail. Builders, designers, architects and suppliers within the organization contributed suggestions for items to be included in the home's design. Mrs. Robert Hyde directs the attention of Mrs. Lucille and Dr. R. Franklin Thompson to the painting entitled "Carnival", on loan to the exhibition at the College of Puget Sound. Dr. Thompson was the president of C.P.S. He and his wife were on hand to attend the Tacoma Art League's preview on October 3, 1950, of an exhibit featuring the work of two local artists, Mrs.Vera Fraser and Nelson Sears. Dr. Thompson became President of C.P.S in 1942 and served as president for 30 years.(TNT 10-8-50, p. D-4)

College of Puget Sound Bond Queen. Lorraine Danell was crowned the CPS War Bond Queen in the Jones Hall Auditorium by Leon Titus, Chairman of the Board. Lorraine will reign over the upcoming May Day festivities (T. Times, 5/1/44, p. 1).
