Rose Marie and Bruce are surrounded by members of their families. Rose Marie was the daughter of Kenneth and Rosa Murphy. A group of eighteen women model formals in a style show that was a joint fund raiser for the Orthopedic Guild and the Tacoma Day Nursery presented by one of the local department stores. A stage and runway has been built at the College of Puget Sound Fieldhouse for the event. This year's style show departed from the custom of previous years when they were conducted over three succeeding days following luncheons. This show took place in the evening with professional models wearing the latest in men's and women's styles. (TNT, 9/6/1952, p.20)

Mark Griggs, son of Chauncey and Johanna Griggs, and his cat admire their portraits painted by Franz Gerstl. This portrait will be displayed along with other Tacoma owned pieces of art in a show presented by the Tacoma Art League and the Delta Phi Delta Art Honorary Fraternity at the galleries of the College of Puget Sound. Much of the artwork was created by Northwest artists and the portraits are all of prominent area families. Chauncey Griggs was the Director of the St. Paul and Tacoma Lumber Co. A reception tea was held at College of Puget Sound's Anderson Hall on July 31, 1948 to welcome Bishop Kennedy and his wife. More than 125 Methodist ministers from Washington, Oregon and Idaho attended the conference and reception. College of Puget Sound students were helping place nine brass plaques bearing the name of one of the fraternities and sororities, which have been active for the past twenty five years. The plaques are being placed by the Student Union Building. The students and college administrators participated in a special dedication just prior to the cement being poured. CPS. Students at the College of Puget Sound are determined to win the many valuable awards in the Tacoma T-Man contest. One young man is wearing a gas mask. Two hold rifles and the last one holds a revolver in his hand and a pipe in his teeth. They have scoured the campus in hopes of locating the elusive subject. The 7th jingle clue was, "For he is sound as sound can be, A saint in two he is, not three. All will vouch and praise his name, and then go on to win the game". "T-Men", an Edward Small production released by Eagle Lion Films, was opening at the Rialto Theater. The film starred Dennis O'Keefe and was based on a compilation of three actual cases of US Treasury Department agents going under cover to track down a counterfeiting ring. The Central Board was a group of students vested with the responsibility of appointing committee heads, supervising the control of ASCPS finances, choosing publication heads and planning special campus events. The board was comprised of representatives of each class, editors of the Trail and Tamanawas, department managers of forensics, men's and women's intramural, music and dramatics, elected officers of ASCPS, and three faculty advisors. In December of 1947, the College of Puget Sound was selling canned milk on campus. The milk bought by students, faculty and staff would be sent to war ravaged Europe as a Christmas gift. At the milk stand, an unidentified student was selling milk to CPS President R. Franklin Thompson with other students waiting in line, cash in hand. CPS had also adopted an orphanage, De Bon-Secours, in Paris and they would be sending CARE gift packages worth $875 to the children for the holidays. (Tamanawas, 1948).
