Governor Arthur B. Langlie presents a State Safety Award to John Sherman at the Pulp and Paper Industry's Safety Conference at the Winthrop Hotel. The award states that it is for "Meritorious Service in Industrial Safety." More than 200 persons attended the two-day Washington State Joint Labor-Management Safety Conference held at the Winthrop Hotel. Representatives attended the meeting from major pulp and paper firms, including Crown-Zellerbach Corp., and labor unions, including the International Brotherhood of Paper Makers and International Brotherhood of Pulp, Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers.
