All four bedrooms were spacious and carpeted; the master bedroom had its own bathroom. Model home interior. Two small steps lead from the spacious living room to a small dining room in this 1965 Tacoma Home Show (now called the House & Garden Show) model home. The dining room faced the rear yard in this wooded lot. Called the "New Englander" and built by Evergreen State Builders in the Oakbrook subdivision, the home's furnishings reflected the Early American atmosphere with formal dining room table and high back chairs, hutch, and comfortable stuffed furniture. The home enjoyed wall-to-wall gold carpeting which was thickly padded. The elegant semi-Colonial contained four bedrooms and two baths. The exterior featured white cedar, red brick, black shutters and four white columns with double-door entry. It attracted nearly 20,000 visitors during the show's six-day run and prompted sales of $250,000 in new homes in the Oakbrook community. Color photograph ordered by Evergreen State Builders. 1967 Daffodil Parade. The "stream" of "hot coffee" does not seem to soil the white ballroom gown of Susan Bona, the 1966 Daffodil Queen, as she stands in the daffodil coffee cup waving to the large crowds lining Pacific Avenue during the 1967 Daffodil parade. The Coffee House Roasters float #21, cleverly named the "Queen's Coffee Break," was also accompanied by three elves. Miss Bona is currently a freshman at the University of Puget Sound. In step for the March 19, 1968, opening day of the 21st Tacoma Home Show are promotor Pat O'Toole, Miss Home Show Barbara Slott, and developer Boyd Lundstrom. O'Toole had promised a different kind of home show in 1968 as he replaced more than half the previous exhibitors. Nothing that did not directly pertain to actually building or equipping a home would be allowed. This would be a "Red Carpet" event as for the first time, the entire floor of the University of Puget Sound Fieldhouse would be covered by thousands of yards of red carpet. Anticipation ran high for attendance in the hundreds of thousands as free tickets would be distributed by local banks and utility companies. Photograph ordered by National Home Shows. ca. 1962. Sermons from Science building believed to be located at Seattle World's Fair, 1962. This is thought to be one of the buildings in the six-acre US Science Pavilion. The Science Pavilion unexpectedly became one of the Fair's most popular sites as the Russian launchings of Sputnik I & II sparked interest in Americans in the race for the stars. The Sermons from Science exhibit, demonstrating the compatibility of science and religion, would also travel to the 1964 NY World's Fair and to Expo 67.

Free admission and a chance to view innovative furnishings and design drew thousands to the Tacoma Master Builders Association's 1957 Tacoma Home Show model home in March, 1957. Here, crowded streets and a long line of people testify to the interest shown in the annual model home open house. "Oakhurst" was located in the Southgate neighborhood; its location was not revealed until the day before the home show opened. Built by Master Builder Sherman L. Rowland, "Oakhurst" lived up to its name with plenty of Northwest woods and a comfortable floor plan. Photograph ordered by Tacoma Master Builders Association. (TNT 3-19-57, C-5)
