Jean Vennette McDonald and William Jepson were married on Saturday afternoon, August 17, 1941 at the Little Church on the Prairie. The wedding was followed by a reception at the Steilacoom Lake home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mrs. and Mrs. Otto H. Weller. Bridesmaids, in no particular order, were Peggy Carper, Barbara Haggard, Mrs. Carl Straight, Mrs. Joe Livengood, Louise Lyford and Mrs. Nelson Bennett. The bride's four year old niece, Loyal Nordstrom, was the flower girl. Edwin Davis was the Best Man. Despite the early hour on the wedding, 10 a.m. on August 12, 1941, Owen Thomas Gallagher, the groom, and a group of friends tap a keg in the basement during the reception. The wedding of Gallagher and Georgann Leahey was held at the Holy Cross Church, 10th & Verde. The following reception was at the bride's parents' home at 3808 No. 33rd St. The other men pictured are possibly Best Man William Gallagher and ushers Robert Gallagher, James McMenamin and Philip Brockert. Doris E. Wharton and Sgt. Milton G. McAtee of Fort Lewis were married on February 1, 1942 in the loft of the YWCA with Dr. J. Renwick McCullough officiating. The bride, daughter of S.G. Wharton, was a graduate of Clover Park High School. Miss Wharton wore an ivory satin gown, princess style with a sweetheart neckline, and a full length train. Her attendants were dressed similarly and carried small bouquets of flowers. The bride later changed into a blue dress, black fur jacket and blue accessories for her wedding trip.
