Tacoma Mayor Doug Sutherland shares a laugh with city volunteer Dorothy Lantz as the two walk off stage after he presented her with a bouquet of roses, in appreciation for her service to the city. In the last 10 years, Lantz has donated 5,225 hours of her life to the city in her job -- keeping track of all the city's volunteers. The presentation ceremony was part of the "Cheers for Volunteers" brunch at the Tacoma Dome on Saturday, honoring the 6,600 people who donate their time, energy and expertise to the County and City Governments.
