Rear view of K Street Branch of Puget Sound National Bank. While permanent quarters were being built on the K Street site in 1951, customers were able to conduct bank business using temporary quonset-style facilities. According to the large sign near the exit, free half-hour parking was provided for customers. K Street in the 1950s was a bustling busy business district and a growing Puget Sound National Bank sought additional customers by expanding in this area not far from downtown Tacoma. This temporary home of the K Street Branch was constructed in 10 days and opened for business on June 25, 1951.

A crouching umpire, waiting catcher and focused batter #12 appear in this June, 1951 tableau. The batter may have made contact with the ball with a powerful swing as the ball is not in the photograph. The unidentified batter in pinstripes was a member of the Cheney Studs.

A bedroom is shown with twin beds covered with chenille bedspreads. The headboard, vanity and side chairs are made with blonde wood. The carpeting has a long, almost shag, nap. Accessories are limited helping to create the look of the 1950's.

Witte & O'Flyng have housed their offices on the ground floor of this building while retaining apartments above. The building has been built of concrete block and the ground floor is faced with brick. Ray O'Flyng was president of the building contractors, commercial and residential construction, remodeling, prefabrication, development building and property management company. Walter C. Ordered by Holroyd Company. The residence of Captain William E. Farrarof the fire department was built in 1946 using concrete block and stucco. Lumber for home construction was scarce during and after the war. The veterans' emergency housing program absorbed all construction materials available for house construction. The one-story, single-family residence was modern in every way. Its design is reminiscent of an art deco style with a large, curved bay window in the front, a curved, glassed-in area off the corner at the far right, and a flat roof. Nancy Jean Riehl and Donald Maurice Hoff were married August 18, 1951, at the First Methodist Church. Nancy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lock Carl Riehl and Donald is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jens A. Hoff, Astoria. Dr. R. Franklin Thompson, president of the College of Puget Sound, officiated at the ceremony. Nancy wore a Swiss organdy gown with a floral embroidered jacket topping a strapless gown of nylon marquisette. The full skirt extended over a hoop into a dance length train. Mr. and Mrs. Hoff established a home in Portland after August 27th.
