Conductor Gunnar J. Malmin posed in March of 1939 in the center of Pacific Lutheran College's "Choir of the West." The group was in its final round of rehearsals before their concert at Central Lutheran Church. Pacific Lutheran College May Day festivities and dedication of new Library Building. Many people inspect library reading room. Ground was broken May 1, 1937 for the new library designed by E.J. Bresemann, of Heath, Gove and Bell, architects. With the construction of a new library in 1968, this building was remodeled and named Xavier Hall. (T. Times, 5/2/1939, p. 4)

On May 1, 1939, as the orchestra played "Pomp and Circumstance," eighteen senior girls gowned in pastel formals advanced bearing ribbons to form an aisle from Old Main to the May Queen throne. Queen Vivian Lunde, preceded by the ladies of her court, marched in procession.

College of Puget Sound Committee for dedication of new Women's Residence Hall listening to Adelphian Choral Society under direction of John Paul Bennett. Anderson Hall, built at a cost of $75,000 to house 40 women, was formally dedicated on February 15, 1939. Declining business conditions in 1938 would make it hard for some graduates to find steady employment immediately on graduation. The team included two African American players, Brennen King and Jess Brooks, unusual for the time. Jess Brooks was a 1932 graduate of Lincoln High School, where he was the first African American student to win the coveted Richard Graff award, for high scholastic achievement and athletic prowess. An elderly group of former Vashon College students gather to reminisce on college days at Burton on Vashon Island. A woman jots down notes as two older women converse in front of a wooden structure with covered porch. Burton is located on Vashon Island on the north end of Quartermaster Harbor in southwest King County. The community grew around the college that was founded in 1892. It was a coeducational, non sectarian preparatory school whose enrollment grew from 78 in 1892 to 200 in 1904. Unfortunately, the main building of Vashon College burned to the ground in 1912 with building and contents a total loss and a decision was made not to rebuild.

Eleven girls in sweaters with a spur logo and knee length skirts plus their sponsor pose on the steps of a campus building. Spurs, a non profit service club, had been on the campus since 1925. The CPS baseball team had been a formidable opponent in 1926, but lost three of its players to graduation, including the pitcher. The team was rebuilding in 1927.
