These five bowlers were the Tacoma Tigers baseball club's entry in the Northwestern International Bowling Congress. Wearing these Tiger uniforms, they would be knocking down pins on April 30, 1940. Elk's softball team at McKinley playfield. The Elks, runner up in the City League, came forward to defeat seven other teams for the right to represent Pierce County in the state softball playoff. Tacoma was home to the Pierce County Sectional State Playoff for the first time in July of 1942. Games were being played at Athletic Park. In August of 1942, the "Tillicum Chiefs" of Western State Hospital, who played in the Twilight League, had won 23 games and were in the playoffs for the circuit title. Much of the credit went to their pitcher Dick Smith who returned to Santa Clara University before the final playoff games. Although they appear older then their apparent years, the girls in this photograph were identified in the May 18, 1945 Tacoma Times as the Midland Junior High School softball team. The Midland girlsl team had a perfect year in 1945. They went undefeated in interscholastic play, and were declared champions of the Pierce County Junior High School leagues. Having spent a busy night on December 24, 1946 visiting every good little girl and boy in Tacoma/Pierce County, on Christmas Day Santa took in a baseball game. On December 25, 1946 the unidentified players on the 3 and 0 Club helped prove that it is never too late in the season for a good baseball game. This photograph was taken by Walde Krauklis, the husband of Genevieve Louise Richards Krauklis, when he worked as a photographer for the Richards Studio.

Group portrait of Miller & Donovan Tigers Baseball Team at Tiger Ball Park, also known as Tacoma Baseball Park. The Tacoma Tigers (Tacoma Club of the Western International Baseball League) was sold to the San Diego Club of the Pacific Coast League for $109,000 in October 1947. The sale included the Tacoma Tigers park property in Tacoma, the players, team franchise in the Western International League and all other franchises and privileges of the club. In July of 1947, Art Spencer, the athletic supervisor of the Metropolitan Park District, presented a trophy to Chuck Miller of the Tacoma Boys' Club baseball team, winners of the Class C City Championship. Bob Johnson is the new manager of the Western International League's Tacoma Tigers. Bob is very familiar with the Tigers and Tacoma, he spent most of his childhood in Tacoma. Bob Johnson has been playing baseball for twenty years, he has a lot of experience in the major league competitions, and is known as a right handed power-house. Johnson anticipates a great baseball season for Tacoma (T. Times, 1/3/49, p. 9).

This unidentified Tacoma Tigers "bat person" was all ready for the 1949 season opener scheduled for Friday April 22. Unfortunately, it rained. The first game of the season was not played until Sunday the 24th. On that day the Tigers faced the Salem Senators in a double header. Before a home town crowd of 4,535 fans they lost both games, 7-3 and 2-1. (TNT 04/25/1949, p. 16)

Tacoma Baseball Club. The Tacoma Tigers opened their 1950 Western International title bid April 19, 1950, against the Salem Legislators. Catcher Bill Sheets, joining when the team came home to Tacoma, would be the number one catcher with Redwood Fischer as his understudy. Tacoma Baseball Club. The Tacoma Tigers opened their exhibition season in Bakersfield, California, in early April 1950. The Tigers opened in Tacoma April 26, 1950. Tacoma Baseball Club. Arnold (Red) Fischer was the number one catcher during the initial fortnight of spring drills at the Tacoma Tigers camp in Bakersfield, California. With the return of Bill Sheets, Fisher was probably crowded out as the first-string receiver, but Manager Jim Brillheart hoped to utilize the youngster's power at the plate and develop him into a third baseman.
