The photographer's notes for this image indicate that it is a photograph of "Aza Destiny." The black Arabian horse, Aza Destiny, was born in 1971, sired by Azraff ex Bint Bass Hisan. His progeny would later number over 60. On the lower part of this photograph is a signature, apparently "Johnny Johnston," perhaps the photographer. Photograph ordered by Glenn Ash, Spanaway.

The Woodbrook Hunt Club's 1955 Spring Horse Show was held May 21-22, 1955 in the covered arena at the Woodbrook Stables. It featured exhibitions by the Pierce County Sheriff's Posse, square dancing on horseback by the Lariettes and a style show of what the best dressed horsewoman wears for Western riding, to an English hunt or square dancing. A member, believed to be Harold Lent, of the Woodbrook Hunt Club holds onto the reins of his horse on October 10, 1954. He is wearing hunting habit with a long jacket and cap. Woodbrook was one of the few hunting clubs in the country that maintained its own pack of hounds. This photograph would have been taken prior to the first hunt of the season. Co-founded in May of 1926 by Thomas H. Bryan and Major J.E. Mathews, the club divides its year between the informality of summer rides, picnics and gymkannas and the winter "drag hunts," where riders stream across the prairies behind the club's hounds. A drag hunt is where the riders follow behind the hounds; the animals following a scent that has been literally dragged along the ground. Governor's Review of troops--Fort Lewis. Soldiers watering horses in concrete trough. Mules and horses were part of the giant U.S. Army demonstration of its military prowess during the three hour military review held on August 21, 1937. Passing before the governors of Washington, Oregon and Montana were 14,000 regular army and national guard troops. The Woodbrook Hunt Club invited the Clearbrook Hunt Club of Seattle to a joint hunt on Sunday March 2, 1941, to be held at Woodbrook. Pictured, left to right, were Woodbrook members Don Cameron, Mrs. Helen Keho Woods, Barbara Hufford, Bibbitts Strong, Fred Kenworthy, Burwood Kennedy and and unidentified girl. For the hunt, the manager of the stables Arthur Hannum would be filling in as Huntsman. Donald Cameron and Walter Green would be the "whippers in." Mrs. Joseph Gilpin was president of the local Hunt Club. In 2008, Woodbrook is still conducting traditional "riding to hounds."
