Dinner meeting at Kopa Chuck Lodge (Kopachuck), Condon Co., Inc., Ralph Combs. A group of Northwest artists was established at Horsehead Bay near Gig Harbor. The old corral at Kopa Chuck Lodge was taken over and made into a studio center for weaving, painting and ceramics. The studio was open to the public and dozens of visitors were entertained there. Wollander Farwest Homes was building small affordable two bedroom homes to accommodate new families in need of housing following the end of World War II. Exterior view of a Wollander Farwest prefabricated house; this house was constructed with prefabricated plywood panels, and likely built in just a few days. In 1946 Farwest Homes stated they would be building approximately 25-100 homes daily; these homes were being purchased by new families.

This house was built at 501 Tacoma Avenue North in 1909; Minnie Dickson was said to have helped design the house, A. J. Russell was the architecture firm used in this project. The Cheney Lumber Company owned seven plants that produced 1 million of the 8' x 2" x 4" Cheney studs per day in Washington, Oregon and California. The Tacoma plant had a sawmill, dry kiln, planning mill, log sorting area, storage facilities and loading areas. This plant employed approximately forty people.
