ca. 1932. Phyllis Velton's Dance Revue of 1932. Young girl in halter top and shorts standing under archway with chains on wrists and ankles. The girl is being featured in some sort of gothic interpretive dance. Phyllis Velton was a young Tacoma dancer and teacher. As a dancer, she was know for her "ultra modern" interpretations, demonstrating modern dance trends.

ca. 1932. Residence of Dr. Brady H. Foreman at 4121 No. Madrona Way, circa 1932. The Italian Romanesque structure was built in 1929 from a design by Ambrose J. Russell, architect. It was built for Dr. Brady H. Foreman and his wife Emma. Both of the Foremans died in February of 1956, Dr. Foreman taking his own life only days after the death of his wife. (filed with Argentum)

ca. 1932. Built in 1929 from a design by E. J. Bresemann, architect, this structure was the home office of Nalley's Pure Food Products, later Nalley's Inc. The site includes 401-409 Puyallup Ave. The structure was built of reinforced concrete and terra cotta. The brick was from the Clay City Co. and the stone from Walker Wilkeson cut stone.

ca. 1932. Pentecostal Tabernacle, at corner of South 12th and G. The Pentecostal Assembly Church was located at 1123 So. G St. (now 1121 So. Altheimer St.) It was built in 1926 from a design by Silas E. Nelson, architect. The long time pastor of the church was the Rev. Frank J. Gray.

ca. 1932. A staged photograph taken for the Unemployed Citizens League of Tacoma showing five women doing various kinds of needlework. The woman at the front left appears to be doing crocheting or hooking. The woman at the right seems to be doing needlepoint. The woman seated to the right toward the back may be doing crewel work, and the woman who is standing seems to be knitting. The photograph was taken in a private residence. There is an American flag hanging over the fireplace, and a chalkboard on the wall.

ca. 1932. Drawing of a man by Tacoma-born artist Thomas Schofield Handforth. Autographed "To Maurois Ankrum who might give me faith in America." and signed Thomas. Mr. Handforth was born in Tacoma on September 16, 1897 to Thomas Jefferson Handforth, a prominent lumberman and well known singer, and Ruby Shera Handforth, a talented artist of Irish descent. He grew up in the Northwest and studied at an early age with Mrs. Alice D. Engley Beek, noted Tacoma artist. His fellow student in the early 1900's was sculptor Allan Clark. Mr. Handforth graduated from Stadium High School and put in one year at the University of Washington, studying English literature and not art, before leaving the state to study at art schools in the US and Paris. Recognition of his talent came early and he became a world traveler, recording his surroundings in his art. His work had an oriental flair, obtained during his 7 year stay in China, where he went originally on a Guggenheim Fellowship. He died October 19, 1948 at the age of 51 of a heart attack at his new studio near Los Angeles. His etchings, lithographs, illustrations and childrens' books brought him international acclaim.

This drawing closely resembles Marie Louise Quevli, the youngest daughter, who in 1936 appeared in the Broadway musical comedy "May Wine."

Northwest Brewing took over the building in 1931, adding to the original structure. Silver Springs Brewery purchased the structure in 1950 for their plant.
