Strickland-Taylor wedding. Rev. and Mrs. Richard Edward Taylor march down the aisle at the conclusion of their October 23, 1965, wedding at the Allen A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Taylor is the former Mamie Elizabeth Strickland, daughter of the Grady A. Stricklands. The bride wore a pearl white satin gown with long pointed sleeves and a gently scooped neckline. Frances Holt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Holt wed Raymond Ryland in Sacred Heart Church on the afternoon of October 22, 1952. Okano-Komoko wedding. The Okano-Komoko wedding was held at the Tacoma Hongwanji Buddhist Church on June 9, 1958. The newlyweds are standing below the ornate wooden altar decorated with candles and lilies. The bride is wearing a sleeveless calf-length dress, small hat with veil, and carrying an orchid bouquet. Wedding portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vert. The former Elizabeth Claire Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Smith, was married June 3, 1938 to W. Edward Vert at the Christ Episcopal Church. The bride wore a two piece dirndle suit of brilliant neon blue, long white gloves, a wheat colored picture hat and a corsage of orchids. The afternoon wedding ceremony and reception held later at the Smith home on No. Sheridan Ave. were attended by relatives and close friends. The happy couple will make their first home in Yakima. (T. The wedding party poses for formal pictures. Mrs. Lloyd Nordstrom served as her sister's Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids, in no particular order, were Peggy Carper, Barbara Haggard, Mrs. Carl Straight, Mrs. Joe Livengood, Louise Lyford and Mrs. Nelson Bennett. The bride's four year old niece, Loyal Nordstrom, was the flower girl. Edwin Davis was the Best Man. Doris E. Wharton and Sgt. Milton G. McAtee of Fort Lewis were married on February 1, 1942 in the loft of the YWCA with Dr. J. Renwick McCullough officiating. The bride, daughter of S.G. Wharton, was a graduate of Clover Park High School. Miss Wharton wore an ivory satin gown, princess style with a sweetheart neckline, and a full length train. Her attendants were dressed similarly and carried small bouquets of flowers. The bride later changed into a blue dress, black fur jacket and blue accessories for her wedding trip.
