Gault Junior High School was named after Dr. Franklin B. Gault, Superintendent of Tacoma Public Schools between 1888 to 1892. The school was built and opened in 1926, it was originally called Franklin B. Gault Intermediate School, but was renamed Gault Junior High School in 1928.
