Visitation Villa Academy 1938 May Day exercises. Young women, grouped in pairs, walking in the traditional procession from the Main building after the coronation of the May Queen. The coronation would be held on the north lawn. They pass a two-story building with balcony and covered porch as they proceed into a crowd of visitors seated in chairs under large fir trees.

On April 24, 1945, at Washington School, 3701 No. 27th St., Patsy Phillips (left) and Judy McMillan stood at attention while Ronnie Schermerhorn blew a salute on his trumpet for the World Security Conference to be held in San Francisco. Campfire Girls and Blue Birds throughout the nation took part in identical ceremonies designed to make the scouts think about what they most desired for the world and determine the part they could play to make those desires come true.The World Security Conference was one of the international meetings that led to the formation of the United Nations. Panhellenic Tea at Great Hall, Annie Wright, News Tribune, Mrs. Hosmer. The Tacoma Panhellenic honored graduating senior high school girls and their mothers at their annual tea on April 24, 1948, at the Great Hall at Annie Wright. The program consisted of talks by Miss Maxine Blake and Miss Jacquine Norback about college life from the student's view point. Lona Huseby played Chopin and Debussy on the piano. This aerial photograph of part of the northwest section of the Stadium District was taken in August of 1948. The large Tudor Gothic design building at the bottom is Annie Wright Seminary, 827 Tacoma Avenue North, which opened at this address in 1924. Immediately above Annie Wright are the courts and clubhouse of the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club, 502 Borough Road. The large area of trees to the left is the "top" end of Garfield Park. TPL-9494

Stadium High School was built in 1891, it was built in the French Chateau style and originally designed by architect A. B. Hewitt, architect Frederick Heath remodeled the building and changed it into the school. Stadium Bowl was built in 1909, it has been remodeled many times because of mudslides and weather damage. Annie Wright Seminary. 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 format. A view of the exterior of the buildings at Annie Wright. The school first opened in Tacoma in 1884. The facility moved to this location in 1924. The buildings were designed by Sutton, Whitney & Dugan, architects. The Tudor Gothic brick buildings are covered by ivy. The roofs are studded by dormers. Expansive grounds surround the buildings.

Tacoma Vocational-Technical School offered training for all types of trades. In 1949 there were 500 students in attendance with 1,400 more as apprentices. Here six men are learning to install and repair utility lines in the electrical lineman trade, one of 50 trades offered. The three students at left are identified as (in no particular order) Ed Sorger, Jr., George Blanc and Tom Padden. Strapped securely by lineman's belts, some are working on transformers on genuine, although shortened, poles. The Tacoma Vocational-Technical School was operated by the Tacoma public school system in compliance with the state plan for vocational education.
