A collection of sheet music that has to do with Tacoma, the Puget Sound region or Washington State that ranges from the 19th century to the late 20th century.

Includes photos taken by Lee Merrill of construction projects, group outings, and a Daffodil Queen.

The Tacoma Weekly, published by the Pierce County Community Newspaper Group, originated as the Tacoma Monthly in 1987 and became the Tacoma Weekly in 1994. Sections include local city news, sports including high schools, business and features including visual artists, bands, movies and more.

The free newspaper has been distributed in broadsheet and smaller formats as well as online over the years. A special business section ran from circa 2005-2007 and the Weekly Weedly section that focuses on marijuana news began being published in the April 28, 2019 issue.

Tacoma Public Library's Book Notes radio program was featured on KTNT radio Sundays at 10:30 pm. The show existed from the 1950s–1970s and featured content such as book reviews, oral histories, interviews, and poetry readings. The hosts included librarian Marile Creager, Gary Reese, Louise Morrison, and Georgeanne Schuler.

Radio Tacoma (101.9) is an all-volunteer, low-power FM community radio station with a mission "to serve Tacoma and the surrounding area, providing the opportunity for participatory democracy as a venue for local voices, news, and talent that might otherwise not get heard." Their regular programming includes The Cannabis Corner, Climate Talk, and Grit City Stories.

These copies of the 1945 and 1946 Esquire's Jazz Book, published by Smith & Durrell, Inc. were owned by Marjorie Jane Windus during her time she worked in the Chicago Illinois Blue Note Jazz Club, from the 1940s and early 1950s. These books include autographs and messages from many prominent and lesser-known jazz musicians and singers from that time.

Includes correspondence, journals, financial papers, legal papers, printed materials and ephemera, photos and maps. Correspondence consists of both personal and business-related letters (1873-1911). Journal entries provide twenty-two years worth of short accounts of daily farm life, and occasionally mention other early Steilacoom pioneers (1868-1912). Financial papers include tax receipts (1866-1930), handwritten and printed receipts (1861-1931), a checkbook (1861-1862), and small account books recording work, expenses, and brief journal entries (1862-1910). Legal documents include land contracts and descriptions, and court documents relating to the estate of J.W. Roberts (1911-1915). Printed materials and ephemera include a variety of items such as business cards, pamphlets, and menus (undated), and newspaper clippings (1895, 1913-1914). A small series of photos are mostly undated and unidentified. There are also two undated handwritten maps of the Spanaway area.

Business records of the Willits Brothers Canoe Company, including designs for and information on manufacturing and maintaining canoes, photos of the Willits' family and friends, photos of the Puget Sound area from 1920 to the late-1960s, and files, maps, and architectural drawings relating to Day Island, and to the Day Island Improvement Club.

Includes research files and notes gathered and compiled by Pfutzenreuter related to the Salishan neighborhood. Also included is Justi's "Narratives of Salishan: The Untold Story," a documentary she produced for her Masters Capstone Project in Spring 2019 as part of the University of Washington Tacoma's Masters of Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies program.

The documentary introduction states, "When it comes to Salishan, most of the history that we do know lies in short, unnuanced articles in the Tacoma News Tribune. These articles were, and continue to be, influential in the ways readers view the neighborhood and those who live in it. Written by outsiders who may have preconceived notions, these articles leave no space for residents’ voices and their experiences. Taking this into consideration, the history that we don’t know resides in the minds and memories of those who have lived there, including families that belong to the Puyallup Tribe from whom the land was originally taken. It’s important to examine these perspectives to develop a fuller picture of the neighborhood. Since its origins in 1943, Salishan has had a negative reputation within the larger community. Without the voices of the tenants, negative stereotypes about Salishan will persist. We should ask, 'who’s telling the story?' and 'who’s constructing the narrative of Salishan?' This film project documents the experiences of residents, using their own voices, as an intervention into the dominant negative narrative about Salishan."

The Northwest Asian Weekly is a weekly newspaper based out of Seattle, WA and serves the Pacific Northwest region. It began publication in 1992 and is still producing weekly newspapers. The Northwest Asian Weekly covers local, national, and international news, local events, sports, editorials and commercial advertisements. Print edition ceased with 01/21/2023 issue, and publication is online only.
